Of course, the obvious reason is because you want to. Some people collect sports cards because they like the sport…or their dad or grandpa collected. Maybe they collect them for their value, because some, like a rookie Michael Jordan or an old Honus Wagner, can be worth quite a bit.

So, why books? Well, just like stamps, there’s a lot of them out there. According to Google, in modern history, almost 130 million books have been published. The Library of Congress, which has the largest collection of books in the world, has about 30 million.

Because of the number of books available, book collecting is a great hobby to be in…so long as you have the bookcase space for your collection.
